Fernando Alonso's joy at securing his 100th Formula 1 podium at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix turned sour on Sunday evening.

Alonso took the lead from P2 on the grid in the Jeddah Corniche Circuit.

Teammate Lance Stroll's automobile was towed underneath a safety vehicle to remove the car.

Alonso raced to overtake George Russell's Mercedes and claim victory.

The stewards quickly hand out an additional 10-second penalty after the race.

Alonso told Sky Sports F1.
